A futile effort on my old Twitter account, but seems like the right thing to do. Feels a little sad to let go of these old posts, though.

Current status: Extremely jealous of everyone who is in Japan for Star Wars Celebration and trying not to spend every waking moment living vicariously through their posts...

Yuck:

“Behnke found that just over half of the 90 participants surveyed during the research said they share their bottle with others, and 15% said they never cleaned their bottles.” www.bbc.com/future/artic...
Are you cleaning your water bottle enough?
Every time you take a sip from your water bottle, you are depositing bacteria inside and over the course of a day these can multiply by the millions. Should you be worried?

I tried Sweetgreen for the first time this week, so I guess I’m fancy now (my review: very, very good, but skip the “fries,” which don’t know if they are trying to be potato chips or french fries).

Everyone needs a friendly shoulder to lean on from time to time, even donkeys.

It's pretty rough out there, folks. Be kind to yourself and others, including non-human animals.

This Day of Remembrance at Chiyo's Garden in Seattle felt different from all those previous. At the first DOR we created here in 1978, we were 2,000 Nikkei strong in remembering the camps and standing for redress with our families. 1/

Especially hard these days to find the balance between “following the news” and “being overwhelmed by grim headlines.”

It continues to amaze me a little bit that public libraries exist, and offer SO MANY free resources, and you can support them by... using those resources. Like surely I'm getting away with something here

So is Bluesky the place to go yet for earthquake alerts? (got the alert here in Davis, saw some light swaying of window blinds) earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...
The Earthquake Event Page application supports most recent browsers, view supported browsers. Or, try our Real-time Notifications, Feeds, and Web Services.

OK, now that I've looked at the feeds tab I'm thoroughly impressed with this site. Pretty cool that you can have a feed of just images from people you follow, or searches for multiple F1-related terms, or this nonsense: bsky.app/profile/did:...

There's no easy way to create lists yet, so I created an account that's only following news outlets. Check out which accounts this account is following for news on Bluesky: @mattnovak.bsky.social

I feel a little guilty saying this, but I forgot this site existed until I signed up for Threads and saw someone making a joke about it.
