I would rather have a world where we all trust each other and accept that a few people will take advantage of it than a world where folks have to perform disability constantly in order to get the help they need. Let kids have an extra 30 minutes on the test, jesus fucking christ

This sequence has been over the top great. The contrast with the more muted tones when things are 'normal' has really highlighted the tension.

How fast you can remember facts is not a measure of learning. Your ability to think critically, to grapple with complex material - none of that is measured adequately in a high-stress, timed situation. The obsession with these kinds of tests feels antiquated.

It gets even weirder: viroids don't even have capsids, they're just little loops of bare RNA

"I know what I want my body to do but I'm not sure if I should tell it to do that" is always a frustrating place to be in.

"Don't get a payday loan, play our solitaire game for money!" is probably the one that depresses me the most.

Yeah, this is literally the only place I’ve seen them below $10/lb.

when we talk about elite failure, this is a big part of it, at the leadership level in education and in business, too many executives simply refuse to exercise any kind of judgment whatsoever, everyone wants the perks, no one wants the responsibility

Makes me think of some of the spell check suggestions I've gotten over the years, e.g. arabinose -> Arab nose
