On a sailing charter in Alaska.

Boat owner was captain and cook. First "cruiser" we (Carolyn and Dave) ever met . . . and got us thinking about the idea of cruising.

If John could do this, why couldn't we?

Decades later we can ask you, "If Dave and I could do this, why couldn't you?"

Boating is better with friends. So fun to meet some old friends and make some new ones at The Boat Galley meet-up in St. Augustine over the weekend. We talked routing strategy for the Bahamas, best bottom paints, and passage disasters. Stay tuned for future opportunities to join us for a meet up!

Before we set sail, I had privilege to work for some EXCELLENT bosses in my career. They taught me, mentored me, challenged me, went to bat for me, defended me, corrected me, guided me, encouraged me. Such a treat to get to host Mike, one of my first bosses, this week in St. Augustine

For #Lent, I'm fasting the chaos, strife, drama, contempt & criticism that fills my inbox, social media feeds, thoughts, discussions, and attention. Instead I'll write about the things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, worthy of praise that capture my attention.

Eating Zarapa de Bocachico, a specialty of Colombian cocina costeña or coastal cuisine. I ordered this blind...not knowing what it was or what would be inside the "envuelto en de bijao" when it arrived. Rice, yuca, and an endemic freshwater fish steamed in bijao leaves. Gotta say, 10/10 delicious!

2 years ago this week we were provisioning for a 30-day sail from Cabo to French Polynesia. 3 challenges: 1) Finding everything in the 9 supermercados in La Paz 2) Limiting the weight (there are no heavy or light displacement boats, only heavy or light displacement owners) & cramming it in lockers.
