Measles is a vaccine-preventable disease. In Ontario, occurrences of measles have been rare historically, owing to the successful elimination of measles in Canada and high immunization coverage over the past decades. However, the landscape has changed dramatically over the past year.

☑ 95% of clients reported satisfaction with their care
☑ 91% of clients were confident their midwife was skilled
☑ 93% of clients trusted their midwife was acting in their best interest

On Oct 31, the government announced an amendment to the Designated Drugs and Substances Regulation under the Midwifery Act, 1991 - permitting midwives to both prescribe and administer by injection an additional immunization to prevent RSV transmission in newborns. More: cmo.on.ca/rsv-monoclon...

By October 1, 2025, midwives are required to submit their registration renewal application & payment. Some midwives are also required to report on the Professional Development Portfolio & active practice.

The College’s public register is a complete listing of all the midwives that have been registered with the College. If you cannot find your midwife’s name in the public register or suspect that someone you are dealing with as midwife is not registered please contact the College at conduct@cmo.on.ca.
