I wrote this for Cycling Weekly in February. A lot has happened since then. But this paragraph remains pertinent.

It *is* the duty and responsibility of sport to take action against heinous crimes. That's part of the Olympic Charter Lappartient talks about.

Spanish Government replies to the UCI's statement, pointing out that the UN has just declared Israel's actions in Gaza a genocide. Brutal final words: "Peace without justice is peace in the graveyard."

Lappartient is out of his depth. He is not protecting cycling with his actions and words.

I spent stage 16 of the Tour de France to Mont Ventoux in the publicity caravan. And it was every bit as absurd, bizarre and perplexing as I wanted it to be. What a day!

Very revealing words from UAE manager Matxin at the end of today's stage. Pogačar is playing the long game, something he's never done before.

Has Primoz Roglič ever been so raw, authentic, engaging and honest? Sure, he's admitted defeat in his Tour de France dream, but this was Roglič like we've never heard him before.

People talking about the 2018 Giro d'Italia and Simon Yates's redemption being complete. Yeah, sure, of course. But will someone please remember when I had to write a 2,000w interview with him pre-Giro 2020 and his only standout quote was how much he liked pizza. So revealing it made the front cover

Just rode the finishing loop of Giro stage one in Tirana. Very green, beautiful, forested, with the city sitting in the valley bowl - visually reminded me of Bilbao. The climb's too hard for the sprinters, but too easy for GC lot. My bet: Pidcock.

Jasper Stuyven will win the Tour of Flanders today. Because someone who has made him a marzipan Jasper Stuyven.

I'm in Gent for the next seven days for Flanders before going to France for Roubaix. Looking for swimming pools and gyms to use. Good to know that the oldest swimming pool in Belgium (so they claim) has the all important doping room. 🙃

That should fix my broken leg!

It was enthralling, out-your-seat, breathless, nail-biting, breakneck stuff. Mauro Gianetti said it was “an incredible show for cycling”. Mauro, it was an incredible show for *sport*, not only cycling. A gladiatorial head-to-head, impossible to call, The Conqueror trying to conquer the unconquerable

Will the men's race explode before the Cipressa and Poggio? A lot of the peloton think yup it will.

When the Dutch realised in late Jan that Visma might not have any Dutch riders at this year's Tour de France, it caused uproar. Do they have a point? Or is a team's flag really not all that important?

Including my interview with Greg LeMond, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. "I do believe I played a big role in changing
the old, traditional part of cycling and bringing it into the modern era," he said. He also opened to me up on the effect of the infamous shooting accident in '87.
