thank you sven for the speech, hope you stay the industry forever, and thanks geoff for making a somewhat decent awards show for once

"They knew that if you put the game and the team first, the revenue will follow. They were driven by idealism and wanted players to have fun. And they realized that if the developers didn't have fun, nobody was going to have any fun."

and i would like nothing more for games to be that way

"The Oracle told me that the game of the year 2025 was going to be made by a studio ... who found the formula to make it up here on stage. It's stupidly simple, but somehow it keeps on getting lost. Studio made their game because they wanted to make a game that they wanted to play themselves."

i think my biggest highlight from that event though was sven vincke speech trashing on the corpo game industry... like dude i'm gonna fucking cry... there's so much in this speech that i want to preach.

the game awards though still has a lot of room for improvement. WTF was that AI-slop cat game and the people tied to it, the event is tiringly long to some, and new that new turok game LOL, not much geoff could do about that though

you can call it a lip service as much as you want, but it feels less of a lip service when they introduced the game changer award to someone who helped layed-off devs out of their rut.

the people that spoke up about the industry being dogshit were mostly indie people and i feel like that was by design by geoff.

and shoutout to the astro bot team! a lot of that team is sony japan reincarnated who teamed up together to make this neat platformer. i don't want to hope too much, but hopefully this is a wakeup call for sony to see that not every game needs to be cutting edge and realistic.

and hey, some pretty deserving awards were handed out this year--those dlcs never really won anything if you care about that. localthunk, a regular guy who was going back to IT after publishing his game ended up winning, caseoh, another regular guy that won a content creator award...

while it was definitely boring for a lot of people, i think that comes from geoff being pretty aware about the game industry and us spectators, from the muppets bashing on him and the awards, to giving some space for some actual great people out there left in the game industry

and some fast growing pains, like one of favorite x accounts getting absolutely shredded of relevancy on this site, but im just gonna chalk that up to me getting sucked in the X algorithm mind virus
