Yes that is entirely the point.

Force user-pays on everybody so that the wealthy can have a nice society that the poor aren't able to participate in but have to prop up.
Rates caps may mean more expensive parking, libraries and pools, mayors say
Councils might consider raising fees for things like pools, recreation centres and other community facilities, Wellington mayor Andrew Little says.

I don't know why Grokipedia exists, but it does have something Wikipedia doesn't - a 2500-word essay about Jacinda Ardern's dead cat, which clarifies it did not have any influence on government policy grokipedia.com/page/Paddles...

This is from Grokipedia's woeful AI-generated article on New Zealand. Yes, it really is citing Hobson's Pledge as a factual source.

Because a bunch of paranoid Facebook-addicted parents are worried about their teens seeing anorexia/sui bait and have no mental model of platform regulation, we're gonna end up with a worse form of internet censorship and digital ID than the cookers were claiming about contact tracing apps.

Of course they chose a Sousa march for Trump's exit (very Gilded Age). The name of the march is The Washington Post. www.youtube.com/live/a-akQl0...

Faaaaaaaark
This video is waaay too long, given what it’s documenting—books to be removed from all Edmonton Public Schools.

Alberta, please don’t go the way of the U.S. and start banning books.

I recently started posting some case profiles as an online archive: It’s a living project, documenting how sovereignist ideas have played out in NZ since the 90's. 👨‍⚖️⚖️

The thing that fucks me off the most is that National, Fonterra, AND ECONOMISTS all talk about wealthy farmers being good for the economy because they can spend (though the smart ones will just be paying debt down if they have any) and yet PAY EQUITY WAS SOMETHING THE ECONOMY COULDN'T AFFORD.
Fonterra farmers got $3.2billion cash in hand from the sale of Anchor etc. Luxon says they now have cash to spend. National have also allowed farmers/businesses to claim back 20% of cost of new assets against tax. What about the rest of us that still can't afford butter? Where's our incentives?
