These days are dark and getting darker. But time stops for no man. Not even Trump. There will be an after to all of this. Find strength in each other. Keep going.

Goodnight 💚

Today we honor the flippered citizens of our icy nation.

Whether you celebrate whilst eating a democracy sausage in Oz, doomscrolling in America, pulling maple taps in Canada, or elsewhere, we appreciate the support! #worldpenguinday

Sadly, the average American probably isn’t grokking the devastation wrought by the HHS restructuring because few outlets are fully conveying the utter cluelessness and incompetence with which it’s being executed. This article comes close.

'Your RIF notice is not cancelled.' Inside a chaotic week of massive layoffs at HHS
Health agency staffers describe a week of chaos and continued uncertainty about who still has a job and how the work will get done. To many it's the opposite of "government efficiency."

“Remember to think critically.”
Many people are afraid of bugs, or generally dislike them. I would like to share with you examples of some beautiful and underrated insects. Every creature plays an important role in its ecosystem.

Remember to think critically. Why do you feel the way you do? Why might some feel differently?

“Tiny teeth that cover their eyes”! 👀
#FISH OF THE DAY: Whale shark! This carpet shark is the largest extant fish in the world, reaching lengths up to 40 ft. Unlike other carpet sharks, this fish lives in the open ocean and filter feeds. Whale sharks have tiny teeth that cover their eyes to protect them from the ocean

Remember
Here's a picture of an earwig I found recently. She's nocturnal, and sleeping in her nest with her eggs. She will protect and nurture them until they're big enough to fend for themselves. These guys are one of my favorite insects :)

Remember to have compassion and patience for those around you.

"We can’t afford to tell allies to ‘find out’ when they weren’t part of the ‘fucking around.’ ... We are going to have to create uncomfortable alliances with people that we don’t agree with on every issue but can agree on major things."

Thanks for putting this out there, @fpwellman.bsky.social
Re-upping this because I’m already seeing a lot of “well this is what most veterans wanted!” comments. I actually did math and shockingly most veterans did not vote for this. open.substack.com/pub/fpwellma...

Do they have to 'find out' too?

I think there should be an "It's complicated" option, but candidates who choose to play the "gray card" should be compelled to explain the nature of the complication.
I think confirmation hearings should be simple. 1. Refuse to answer a single “Yes/No” question with a “Yes/No” your ass is done and no longer a nominee no matter how many people might have voted to confirm you.

These animals are amazing, sometimes they'll just all sit around and belt one out. You can see in this photo there's nearly full participation in the song.

Q: Critics say Democrats are elitist and look down on working-class people. What do you say to that?

A: Democrats think that they can just talk “middle class.” They don’t have to say “poverty.” They don’t have to say “low wages.”
