Save what we love.
I repost a lot. I like to amplify.
The flower in my avatar is a cereus, or orchid cactus. The banner is my cat Madmartigan’s paw on a knitting project of mine, red and blue two color brioche.
My media tab is mostly cats and knitting.

The legend lives on, from the Britons on down
Of the river they called the Tamesis
The river, they say, acts more like a bay
When the tides hit the sand banks near Sheerness
With a hold full of bombs, weighing 6000 tonnes
Came the good ship the Richard Montgomery

and as silly as it is to have to be told “try not to overlook when the world doesn’t hurt,” yes, i had to be told to try not to overlook when the world doesn’t hurt and he did it in such a way that i still say it verbatim.

if this isn’t nice, what is?

i think it’s lovely.

Also, open plan workspaces are actual hell. Why are you doing this?

A little privacy would be nice. Some noise absorbing surfaces in a nice cubicle and I can pretty much ignore the distractions.

Open plan is hell.

(There was not a more gentle way to phrase it that would work. The problem was that being wrong about the slightest thing caused her discomfort. Which, I know being wrong feels bad, because I hate being wrong, too, but I was the one written up. There was no way to say the thing.)

And also not be so brokenhearted when I ask you to pay attention to the details.
I’m pointing out that you could do this better, and I did it in private, quietly, but now that you are crying about it, the ENTIRE DEPARTMENT is looking at us, and I don’t know a more gentle way to phrase this?

Anyway that's how I learned the way I think of fairness is systemic. It's not fair if it doesn't work for everyone. It's not fair if it relies on magical thinking and erasing the bits of work that get passed down the line. It's not fair for 4 employees to be lazy and one to have panic attacks.
