Since becoming an MP, I often hear about the difficulty of getting a driving test here in #Guildford constituency.

I'm hoping to take part in a debate on this issue next week and want to hear from you. Please share your experiences at zoe.franklin.mp@parliament.uk.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

It cannot be right that the government is still hounding carers for repayments, long after this scandal was exposed and even after we secured an independent review, but before it has been put right.

The government must pause repayments and get on with fixing the system so it works for carers.

Today marks one year since Labour won a landslide majority on just 34% of the vote.

No wonder trust in politics is so low when we keep getting governments that most people didn't choose.

There is an alternative: a proportional system where Parliament reflects how people voted. #PRnow

Why wouldn't HMG invest in pursuing tax revenue due? Another excellent thread on tax in the UK from @danneidle.bsky.social
If the small business tax gap had followed the same trend as the large business tax gap, HMRC would collect £15bn more tax every year.

Greg Jacksons (Octopus boss) long argued for regional energy pricing and how it could cut billions off costs, indeed he discussed it on my podcast, but I think this is the best explanation & analogy of it I've read (sadly it's paywalled)...

Charge a different price for electricity in different parts of the country, says Greg Jackson, and the UK would save billions

The fact that we have a Member of Parliament effectively endorsing and certainly normalising incitement to violence against a marginalised and racialised social group says everything about just how dangerous the spread of fascist logic in British society has become.
Farage: "Lucy Connolly should not be in prison... Understand, there were millions of mothers at that moment in time after Southport feeling exactly the same way.

Connolly was imprisoned because she posted:

This is extraordinary: "emissions by data centres needed to train and deliver AI services are estimated at around 3 per cent of the global total, close to those created by the aviation industry."
Using big LLMs for basic queries is 'like turning on stadium floodlights to look for your keys' - this is good on the AI environmental questions.
We still don’t know how much energy AI consumes
Companies must give us the chance to understand the environmental impact of the tech we use
