Today we have a young woman calling for a culture of accountability in policing, a minister blaming a female public servant for taking her health and safety obligations to children seriously, and another menz claiming he is the victim of a female MP doing her job.

Simon says cap your rates – how will councils respond?
The Govt says councils must live within their means – but overseas evidence on rate caps is mixed, while local authorities fear a loss of 'critical investment' in infrastructure

Nelson’s mayor campaigned on a 5% rates increase cap but the long term plan already had increases under that and he also refused to answer questions on how long term infrastructure investment and maintenance could be kept within that cap

It’s illogical to just have a cap but no implementation plan
Rates increases in recent tears have been crazy, but this is just dumb, completely failing to address key reasons for those increases:
- decades on underinvestment that have left failing infrastructure whose replacement can't be delayed any further
- central govt offloading costs onto local govt
Watch: Christopher Luxon faces questions amid speculation over rates cap policy
The government's long-awaited rates cap is likely to start with minimum increases of two percent and a maximum of four percent, and would take effect from the start of 2027.

Question 3. Percentages.

David has 1.5% support for his Bill while 98.5% are against it.

Erica must give her vote to the side with the most support.

Does she vote with 1.5% side or the 98.5% side?

Circle your answer.

If Labour are talking to NZF they're making a big error.

Not only does it legitimise the perception that Winston in the centre (to the gullible) and could go both ways, it will strengthen his bargaining power.

The 2017 'handbrake' will seem mild.
