This is not a diss on the inductees. Love Zevon, White Stripes, etc. Speaking of, a slight variation on Icky Thump. Icky Trump: Nothin better to do, So you can be a pimp and a prostitute too ...

And this is one more example of how the English language is exhausted and dessicated. Conservative does not mean conservative, wealth does not mean abundance, war-ravaged does not mean Portland, politics are not sports metaphors...

My father was a self-employed auto machinist. In the late 1970s, when I was a kid, the majority of his work came from VW Bugs. I remember this, and the surplus of VW engine parts he had then. I have no idea what happened to it all, but I knew a VW engine down to the last washer, in spite of myself.

Also the social scientists - Haidt, et al. - who portray the U.S. political landscape as polarized: kindly fuck off.

One party and its propaganda outlets portray a many-voiced pluralistic democracy as a monolithic monster.

This is not polarization. This is authoritarian propaganda.

I would love to be at Ojo Caliente. Flat tire, flat spare. Spent night with that image as my view. Here's hoping I get the tire on this morning.
