One of my favorite things about Bluesky is how many excellent books I discover through encounters with the authors here. I pre-ordered this the minute it popped up on my feed & it finally arrived today. Looking forward to diving in, @kschake.bsky.social. Thank you for this essential work!

Correct. Enlistment is a contract. Commission is an appointment by Congress “at the pleasure of the President” (Alas…)

Under the law, officers serve to provide “best military advice” to the President & Congress.

Here is the Oath of Commission I reaffirmed as a retiree on Nat’l Constitution Day.

USA Today not getting it.

Should read: Hegseth conducting soft purge of ethical military leaders and install fascist lapdogs willing to commit war crimes.

Says much about the state of MAGA intellect that people wearing all the labels frequently give this bumper sticker a thumbs-up.

I was so fortunate to capture that image. Another favorite is when she saw Orcas breach for her first time. I’d seen it before, & it’s beautiful. But I’d never seen HER see it for the first time, so was looking the right direction.

My now fourteen-year-old daughter just declared she loves my study & “…when [she] inherits the house, [she] intends to keep it just as it is.”

I said, “You mean when we die” & she smiled her most beautifully creepy bright-eyed smile.

Useful reading. Helps cut through some of the bright white gaslight.

The obvious false equivalence assertion is, “They all do it.”

The entire Administration seems to be populated with people who truly don’t comprehend the concept of public service & simply assume everyone is like them when it comes to absence of integrity. (Or abundance of antegrity.)
October 9, 2025 at 5:10 AM
Indeed, an individual with both high antegrity and unrestricted pardon power is a dangerous beast.
October 6, 2025 at 10:04 PM
I recently coined the term “antegrity.” (If someone beat me to it, please let me know.)

Along the same line of thought, in this instance I propose acompetence, because incompetence doesn’t seem sufficient.

Disruptive strategies can be powerful. Disruption as a singular default strategy, though: pure amateurity.

With a tip o’ my hat to the Bard as a master wordsmith, I’m finding more & more words that benefit from antonymization by addition of an “a” on the front end.

I appreciate the energy & enthusiasm of young leaders. Was a time I was one.

I also appreciate the maturity & experience of older leaders. I’m there now.

I’m not opposed to 30-somethings & elder folk as leaders; I’m opposed to willful ignorance, malicious idealism, & abundant antegrity in leaders.

Every time I see one of these I struggle to remind myself we just can’t go beyond our current two cats & two dogs until true retirement.

Then, though… I’m totally prepared to become Crazy Pet House Guy.

So. Much. Joy. In each of those giant hearts!

Fair point, good sir. Well played!

Indeed.

With his abundant gifts of antegrity & hypocrisy, he has demonstrated his profound narcissism, absence of intellect, complete lack of credibility, & pure untrustworthiness.

If only he’d paid attention to JJ DID TIE BUCKLE in the Corps. Alas, that transformation clearly didn’t take.

I created a new word today.

Current POTUS & members of his Cabinet possess an abundance of antegrity.

They are liars, fascists, & profoundly lacking the experience, qualifications, & intellect required for their roles.

Unfortunately, the only reqs for POTUS are age, citizenship, & election.
