I quite like Continental Nexus. It's devoid of any obvious bias and has the potential for the countries included to be academically debated ad infinitum, along with near endless sub-division: perfect!

I'm now imagining GPT as a nerdy librarian in a heavy cardigan, pushing their glasses up on their nose as they say in slightly adenoidal tones "Whilst my computer colleagues consider 'Avial' to be a non word, it does in fact have a meaning, although now obsolete, the archaic noun... " etc.

Indeed it is. I'd be more surprised except it's clear that the RWP have been co-ordinating front page outrage for years. The big surprise here is that the Guardian has joined in and the Sun have broken with the tradition of a bad pun on the subject.

... Whilst "avian" (relating to birds) and "aviation" (the flying or operating of aircraft) are accepted words, "Avial" (birdlike or flight associated, obviously) is not apparently an official word. Yet...
