They are practicing and honing their skills with a needle and gaining an appreciation for the work that goes in to making sure our testing is done on the best sample for the right test. And maybe having a little bit of fun, to boot.

My favorite thing I’ve learned so far has definitely been all the different aspects of hematology and my favorite thing to do in Cleveland is going to Edgewater Beach. A piece of advice for future students is to come ready to learn!

I chose CCF because of the future opportunities that such a prestigious program could later offer for my professional career.
I chose MLS because I wanted to work hands-on in the healthcare field with minimal patient contact.

Even on the more stressful days, I love walking into lab and seeing my classmates, ready to learn but also to have a good time. When I am not at the clinic, I enjoy meeting with friends and family, playing video games, and painting.

… interdisciplinary opportunities without being too far from home. My experience in different labs and research projects has led me to pursue MLS as a career path and it could not be more of a perfect fit for me and my interests in the medical field and public health.

…and how supportive the instructors are. My advice for future students is this, the course load can feel overwhelming at times but think of it like eating an elephant; daunting at first, but with diligence and persistence, you’ll get through it one bite at a time.

I found my way into MLS while taking a career survey through the U.S. Department of Labor. Medical Laboratory Science came in as my #2 result, right after dental hygienist… but teeth freak me out, so here we are! It turns out it was the perfect fit for me.

MLS is perfect for me because I get to be part of the behind-the-scenes healthcare team that may not interact directly with patients but still makes a huge impact on patient care and public health. In my free time, I also love going to the art museum!
