Between 2022 and 2024, cargo bike journeys in London rose by 104% 😲 

To maintain momentum, London needs to ensure the right infrastructure and incentives are in place. More space for safe cycling and cargo bike parking would make it easier for businesses to opt for pedal power.

Why does it matter ❓ Oversized SUVs take up more space and pose a higher risk to pedestrians, especially children.

Our research shows that the higher the vehicle front, the more likely a person will be knocked under the car, rather than pushed to the side.

This means that larger, heavier vehicles will pay more to park - a common-sense step towards cleaner air and safer streets.

In a consultation by the Council, 2/3 of respondents agreed that bigger vehicles should pay more for permits ✅

This marks a clear step toward linking parking policy with sustainability and better use of public space.

By basing fees on vehicle size and type, the city can tackle #carspreading, encourage smaller, cleaner vehicles, and reclaim space for people.

🙌 ZEZ-F give businesses the certainty to invest in clean fleets, while cities benefit from quieter streets & lower emissions.

With 33 European cities planning ZEZ-F before 2030, the Dutch experience offers practical lessons for urban freight decarbonisation.

🌆 Cities with - or neighbouring - ZEZ-F are seeing faster uptake of electric vans and trucks.

This “spill-over” effect suggests that clear policy can influence broader regional adoption.

📈 By early 2025, 78% of new vans registered in the Netherlands were electric, compared to just 9% across the EU.

The rollout of ZEZs for freight is one likely reason for the surge, alongside supportive fiscal policies.
