My wife and I were once having ice cream on a patio in the US.

Some event happened that caused police to show up and demand ID from us. No one else was around, it was very weird.

We complied, because, y'know, immigrants.

They were surprised that we produced passports and visas, I think. Freedom!

In the arrest report at bsky.app/profile/prop..., the justification is "shooting Charlie Kirk in a circumstance that put many around him at grave risk of death" (page 3), which appears to map to 2(a)(iii) of the code you linked.

America's Gulag, maybe. His detention started 30-45 days before Trump was president.

I interpreted that as:

- a talent sourcer discovered her profile, encouraged her to apply
- she applied w/resume and cover letter
- with the additional information provided, recruiters determined it wouldn't be a fit and she didn't get past the resume screen

Bit shitty, but it happens.

"I'll be direct" is at the _bottom_ of _page 2_ of the email?

That's a no hire in its own right.

[...time passes...]

That's not a leaked screenshot!? _She_ shared that email with the world? Oh, no.

Microsoft had a whole set of rubrics for developers based on the kinds of projects they'd worked on -- greenfield efforts, v.next releases of established product lines, service packs for venerable product lines, etc.

Very useful framing when thinking about the skillsets you need for tasks.

You spend more than you earn, and you burn through your startup capital.

It's fairly common in tech companies to invest a lot before trying to monetize. It's also fairly common in Trump companies to just not be profitable. Put 'em together and this is the result.

Nah, the Digital Services Tax applies to businesses with $750M revenue and at least $10M profit.

Truth Social made $4M of revenue in 2024, and -$186M of profit.
