The Tasmanian government is contesting a Supreme Court decision that may have granted full tenancy rights to 4,300 people living as "approved occupants" in public and social housing.
Lorraine Jordan was an "approved occupant" of a social housing property in Tasmania, but when her son moved out her provider issued a trespass notice and changed the locks, locking her cat inside. Her legal win has given more rights to 4,300 people — but the government has appealed.
