Went to my local Rite Aid to pick up a prescription for my son and they’re in the middle of putting almost everything in the store locked up behind glass. A truly depressing hellscape.

I don’t care about this guy or his movies, but policing interpretation. Come on! The author is dead. The audience is the final arbiter. If someone thinks your scary clown movie is a metaphor for oppression, an examination of misogyny, whatever - then that’s what it is.

I was a smoker for two decades, but finally quit in my late 30s. I really don’t miss it and don’t ever really feel tempted to have one EXCEPT for when I’m watching Godard movies. I think it’s part romanticism and part Pavlovian as I spent most of my 20s smoking while watching Godard films.

Breaking this out after watching “Beatles ‘64”. Great early chapter about the Maysles’ making their original Beatles’ doc “What’s Happening”.
