We already learned all we need to know about appeasement from Chamberlain.

Stand for truth. It’s the only power you have.

You say this will avoid a power grab during shutdown. But they already are shutting down gov’t, ignoring laws, seizing power. This just gives them permission to continue.

Political gamesmanship is why voters dismiss politicians.

Standing for truth is the only power we have left. Use it dammit.

They are right to be afraid of women. Women—many very young—seem to be able to see reality clearly and stand up for truth. One might even say they are powerful.

Gotcha. So it isn’t going to hurt Tesla as much as other companies, offering a slight added competitive edge. But probably not the incentive for Musk here. He has bigger fish to fry sucking defense contractor funds.

A lot of what you laid out in this made sense and is terrifying. But where does state law come in to this. For example, Trump could demand that birth certificates aren’t issued, but it wouldn’t be up to federal marshalls to enforce since birth certs are issued by local and state entities, right?

So Tesla will still be receiving NEVI funding, where other charging companies may not have been as far up to speed, right? I understand that states had to submit plans but last I knew they were all submitted and approved. Was the commitment of funds by state or by charger?

Yes. But they got the commitment already, right? This doesn’t apply to already committed funds.

I always pictured a coup would involve non-peaceful transfer of power. It’s hard to recognize this one for what it is. But here we are.

This is not just a coup and a Constitutional crisis. It is a national security catastrophe for the United States from which there is no assurance we will ever fully recover. Not hyperbole. If foreign enemies had landed troops on our shores it’s unlikely they would’ve done as much damage as fast.

Mr. Rogers said “look to the helpers.” At the moment, that is prodemocracy groups like ACLU, Climate Science Legal Defense and independent journalists like the Bulwark, the Contrarian. So I’m subscribing/donating. And looking for more chances to act.

Please read the piece. This is not simply about Al Gore. This is a piece about energy policy. I am grateful to Jen Rubin for keeping climate and energy policy in our discourse as so much demands our attention.
