I wrote a pretty long IG post about what worked & what didn’t in making these from silicone molds & my results were: spray Windex on the silicone & pour plaster while Windex is still damp. Tap/shake molds vigorously for 2-3 minutes until air bubbles stop rising to the surface.

Wow hey Bsky it’s been a while and I’ve done 3 soda firings and taken a mold making class this year. Most recently I’ve been working on making molds of these little row houses but trying to get a good cast from the silicone before I make the mold for slip casting.

Cone 6 soda fired results! A few bits of underglaze bubbles & flakes and the inside is a mess and will need to be refried with clear again. But I love the outside so much 😍

Did a nice transfer peel on this plate that will have my Manarola city design on the front.

I’m really excited about the little dragon hand hold on this cup. Going into the soda firing in a few weeks 🧡

Got some gorgeous soda firing results back from the studio on my lunch break and can’t stop picking them up and looking at them. They’re all so different and interesting but this one is obviously my favorite 🧡

Bisqued Velaris wall piece - should the wash be black underglaze or red iron oxide? This is for a cone 6 soda firing next week.

As an early birthday present to me, we went to see my two favorite hockey teams Flyers v. Kraken play and I got to watch warm-ups from the front row. SO fun to see the guys I’m usually watching on TV after 10pm EST up close and playing around. Also really fun to see the @seattlekraken.com win! 🦑

Naturally woke up 2 hours before work & got the two squid designs transferred onto their vessels for the soda firing in March. The greenware deadline is tonight so hopefully they’ll have some time to dry today before I drop them off.

The textured tentacle handles
February 28, 2025 at 2:24 PM
I made some textured tentacle handles for this design but the question is - leave as is or attach the handle?

Dropped off 6 cups at the studio to bisque for the soda firing. Been busting my ass to prep for this firing and the greenware deadline is tomorrow night! Hoping to get 2 more mugs finished before then 🤞🏻

The vibes are very much reflected in this photo.

I did the image transfer onto the slab, then the dragon scale texture, then built the mug - hence all the surface breakage but this one turned out okay. Not going to build them in this order again. The scale texture still went over the image transfer anyway 🤦🏼‍♀️

Tried a different way of image transferring yesterday where you apply the slip to the vessel first and wet the transfer and I didn’t get the timing right. Going to have to fill in the wings.

How do those with ports manage to do PT exercises or sweat in general without sweating off their adhesive dressing? I almost always sweat mine off. It’s difficult because I have PT twice a week and am always accessed during the week.

My fingernail is over the Chocolate test at cone 6 oxidation with the top half clear glazed. To the left in order- Burnt Orange, Amaco Teddy Bear Brown, Caramel (columns underneath each color are them mixed with ratios of Amaco Ultra White). Hope this helps!

Finally took this Velaris wall piece to be bisque fired and hopefully then soda fired in March!

Manarola, Cinque Terre, Italy mugs - one of my favorite designs but also a very time consuming one to fill in with color 🩵🍋

Velaris wall piece update - painting in progress - I’m sure a lot of this will kind of get washed out in the soda kiln but 🤷🏼‍♀️ experiments!

Currently working on my own Seattle Kraken scarf 🦑 it’s mostly alpaca/merino wool. The superwash merino is so soft and squishy omg.

Current Velaris wall piece WIP - need to fill it in with color before bisquing. Hoping to fire this in the soda kiln in March!
