Agreed. I left in 2017 after years of trying to find work and only being able to land part-time. FL refusing to expand Medicaid was a slap in the face to Florida’s underemployment-based economy. FL is a black hole for young people. If you don’t escape early, you’re financially trapped forever.

And yet, I don’t see that money making it down to Floridians. Schools are underfunded, state scholarships from my childhood were diverted, and there’s no social safety net. Ironically, since they don’t have an income tax, there’s no incentive for Florida to support its diminishing working class.

An early House episode featured an exchange where Dr House berated an ER patient w/o insurance, because they might get diagnosed with something and then have a pre-existing condition that prevents them from ever getting coverage. We just accepted that as normal and okay.
