Holy crap I fixed it.
I put the truck in 4lo last week to get out of some snow, and it wouldn’t shift back to 4hi/2wd. Shop said new transfer case, ~$3k (this is the real fix).
I managed to get it back into 2wd/4hi with the help of the internet and a 400+ page pdf of wiring schematics.

One piece of our transit system in Truckee is called “TART Connect”. You request a ride with an app, and they come get you in a minivan.
It’s like public-transit uber, and it’s awesome.

I love my old cars, and have always planned to drive them until the wheels fall off, but they’re not all supposed to break at the same time.
Two broken old trucks (the Rodeo is 30 next year!) has us playing the “how do we move a family of 7 around in a Fiat 500” game.

I love my old cars, and have always planned to drive them until the wheels fall off, but they’re not all supposed to break at the same time.
