I generally like @timmiller.bsky.social but this is just a dumb take. The Dems didn’t cave for any of this. They caved because the airline industry was crying to them and their big donors were afraid they’d be stuck at home for Thanksgiving.
Imagine if Dems in the Senate hadn't caved. The House wouldn't be in session rn, the discharge petition wouldn't be signed, people wouldn't have SNAP, govt workers would be RIF'd & the GOP would have some decent talking points. But also online rage addicts would be happier! YMMV!

We need for people to stop posting things like this. There is no way to impose martial law on a country that’s over 3 million square miles and 340 million people. Even if Trump called back every person stationed abroad, it’s impossible. We need to fear and fight real things.
We are headed toward martial law and the end of our democracy and I will never forgive the people in power who every step of the way told us it was all just fine and everything would work out swell as long as we kept pretending that nothing we have actually seen with our own two eyes was happening

My political hot take is that US voters should be able to recall elected representatives via petition - at any time.
No more hiding behind election terms.

Republicans constantly attack their Congressional leadership, and they remove leaders who fail to achieve the objectives desired by the base.

This 'infighting' hasn't been a 'distraction' or 'weakness' for them, it has produced victory after victory, including control of all three branches.
Oh yeah - never a convenient time to have some real talk about the dynamic that the Democrats in the Senate are led by bunch of chumps. Certainly not after they created the conditions for yet another base demoralizing surrender.
This kind of activity is just what you should want to see, if your are a Republican, eager to see the opposition distracted by self-destructive infighting.

Deeply embarrassing post from a man who engages in as much self promotion as Trump. Schumer helped orchestrate this cave as Shahean told Fox News. We’re done falling for this bullshit. Any D senator who doesn’t vote for Schumer to he replaced will be primaried whether now or in 2030.

This is wild: Trump’s ICE detained a UK journalist hours after he urged US leaders to be “America First” & not “Israel First.”

DHS tweeted he supported terrorism, but his only charge was a visa overstay.

As in: Trump revoked a journalist's visa, so agents could arrest him for overstaying his visa.
BREAKING: British Muslim Journalist to Be Freed From ICE Detention
Sami Hamdi was detained after Islamophobic influencers called for him to be deported. Turns out the Trump admin revoked his visa, and then arrested him for overstaying his visa.

Tonight, we sign off with anger and betrayal.

To the senators who caved... twice... May you have the night you deserve.

And to the rest of you...
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Night, folks 💚

It’s okay because the Republicans promised to hold this exact same vote in a month
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

If you’ve got a Senate Democrat who is not calling for new leadership, they’re part of the problem.

We should no longer trust Senate Dems who decline to come out against the leadership that led us here. Until proven otherwise, we should assume they were in on the game to fool their own supporters.

This coward needs to be gone and every single one who agrees with him
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.

My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

And also, know that Democrats who came of age and of power in this pay-to-play system were never going to be what saves us. Only those of - whatever our day jobs - actually willing to confront this regime will bring us out.

We tried to show them after the last surrender. There's no sense in trying to convince them anymore. Primaries are the only path to a fighting opposition party now.

Thanks for doing the right thing @welch.senate.gov tonight.

The NEXT right thing is to IMMEDIATELY call for @schumer.senate.gov to step down.

This failure was total, inexcusable, and pathetic.

Dems are bringing a charcuterie board to a gun fight & it is contemptible.

Enough.
