I stumbled onto Keiichi Koike's ULTRA HEAVEN randomly in Japan nine years ago. Blew my mind. Finally, someone has translated it. Thanks, @lastgaspbooks.bsky.social ! Your oversized replica of the original is beautiful. Can't wait for the next two. Totally worth the long, long wait 🖤

There's so much talk about the importance of a knock-out first issue, and that's true. But I'd argue if you tank a second issue, you're likely just as stuffed.

What an incredible example ABSOLUTE BATMAN is for a #2. Synder, Dragotta and Martin are just killing it. Palpable energy and care.

Lucky to have read a full preview of NEW GODS #1 by Ram V and Evan Cagle. It's excellent - Kirby's grandiose, cosmic, psychedelic Shakespearean epic given an astonishing, slick new sheen. Historically a tough long-term sell, I can't recommend it enough and hope it finds quick, sure sales footing.
