None of the top military brass have publicly stated that 🇺🇸 has NOT fired upon an already-sinking vessel; that should be trivial to rule out.
That is LITERALLY the textbook example of an unlawful order that all who serve MUST refuse to carry out.
Last week, a high-ranking Pentagon official who spoke to the Intercept on the condition of anonymity said that the strike in the Caribbean was a criminal attack on civilians and said that the Trump administration paved the way for it by firing the top legal authorities of the Army and the Air Force earlier this year. “The U.S. is now directly targeting civilians. Drug traffickers may be criminals but they aren’t combatants,” the War Department official said. “When Trump fired the military’s top lawyers the rest saw the writing on the wall, and instead of being a critical firebreak they are now a rubber stamp complicit in this crime.”

No, this is a real Zionist Private Equity firm, effectively demanding a pound of flesh not as security on a loan, but every month as rent.
When I spoke with Joseph Lubeck, he vigorously denied that American Landmark’s practices are predatory, claiming that “most residents are very pleased” and that 65 percent renew their leases. But he confirmed that rent increases and displacement are part of the company’s strategy. “When we take over a property, the first analysis we do is: How much is the rent going to go up, and how many can afford to stay?” Lubeck said. “We typically raise the rent anywhere from $100 to $400, so some people are absolutely displaced. Some people paying $1,000 in a distressed apartment are not going to be able to afford the $1,400 we’re going to charge.” Based on the company’s “modeling,” Lubeck said, only “55 percent of existing residents [are expected to] stay,” while the remaining 45 percent “move out.” Whether they stay or get priced out, these tenants are also linked to a multinational conglomerate that profits from the displacement of people on the other side of the world. That’s because American Landmark is almost entirely owned by Elco, one of Israel’s largest corporations. For years, Elco, via its Electra Super Brand, has done extensive business in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Israeli settlements drive many thousands of Palestinians from their homes and are considered illegal under international law. Elco has also maintained deep ties to the Israeli military, including during the genocide in Gaza.

Ever notice how often people talk about “woke dying” and “woke died back in 2020” or “you can’t tweet like it’s 2021 anymore”? Back to normal was about Back to NORMAL because people had a little too much time, a little too much money, a little too much attitude, and a little too much freedom. They said back to normal, and they meant back to normal. All of it. Capitalism, racism, sexism, environmental destruction, and disease. Back to the office. Welcome back, back to the Hive Mind. The Hive Mind shares one overwhelming belief, downstream from which all other behaviors flow: COVID is harmless. If that foundational belief shatters- the central tentpole of back to normal which has been supporting a fantasy world since 2021-2022- everything else must be rebuilt from the ground up. It is, as some have put it, a “load bearing delusion.” But it’s not the first, only, or last load-bearing delusion our society runs on, and that’s why it doesn’t surprise me that Gilligan could write a show so closely matching my experience while not necessarily thinking of my life with Long COVID at all. The idea that we continue burning fossil fuels the way we are- that we can continue expanding fossil fuel infrastructure- that’s a load bearing delusion. Nothing that anyone in government is doing matches anything near the scale of the crisis, and yet everyone walks around grinning and flying and partying like there’s no tomorrow. Hell, there might not be! Capitalism, unchecked growth and consumption on a planet with finite resources, will lead to a middle-class American lifestyle for all before the world is scorched: load bearing delusion. And for me it’s interesting because, when I hear the words, “back to normal,”- back to normal in the context of COVID, of the lockdowns, of the pandemic, I also hear them in regard to every single one of those other load bearing delusions just listed. “Back to normal” was never just about forcing you to accept that life was going to be worse from now on, and you better not think about fighting back. You better not demand paid sick leave for the many more days a year you’ll be out sick. You better not ask for legal protections since this new virus might end up disabling you at work. You better not ask for clean air or far UVC. You better not even ask for COVID tests that consistently work.

Saw a praying mantis outside my apartment this morning, & they didn't leap away when I walked around taking photos to get a better angle.
They eat other bugs that are much more annoying, so I'm glad to have them around, plus they look awesome.
