For the first time, we hosted a CNRS Unusual Visits event: 290 applications → 24 visitors→ A tremendous enthusiasm!! Highlights included immune system talks & hands-on workshops on skin, cholesterol, IgE, and DNA extraction.

Big congratulations to Achille Broggi @achillebro.bsky.social, team leader at CIML, who has been awarded the 2025 CNRS Bronze Medal! This distinction honors his research on innate immunity, particularly his discoveries on the role of interferons in tissue protection and repair.

The CIML mourns the loss of its founding father, Michel Fougereau. In 1976, he founded our institute to bring immunology researchers in France together on one site.
Generations of immunologists were shaped by what he built. His legacy lives on in the curiosity and collaboration that define CIML.

In a study led by Jean-Pierre Gorvel and Sylvie Mémet, CIML researchers found that SLAMF receptors shape human plasmacytoid dendritic cell responses to intracellular bacteria. Congrats to 1st author Joaquin Pellegrini and collaborators.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Iñaki Martin Subero from Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona in Spain as part of the 2025 CIML seminar series. Iñaki gave an incredible seminar: “An epigenetic journey to the origin, pathogenesis and evolution of chronic lymphocytic leukemia”.

The day concluded with a thought-provoking debate on ethical questions in the convergence of immunology and clinical oncology, bringing together experts: Bruno Quesnel, Emilie Garrido-Pradalie, Nausicaa Malissen, Sandrine de Montgolfier, and Francoise Simon-Plas.

A highlight was the poster session showcasing research from CIML labs, with Benjamin BAUD from Sandrine Roulland's team winning the Best Poster Presentation Award for his work on novel immunomodulatory drug mechanisms in follicular lymphoma.
