Who would have thought that a clever way to deal with Fae magic would be to add another layer of complexity in the form of a science fiction world?

@cielpierlot.bsky.social would in 'Terms of Service'.

Saying this again: there is a scammer out there targeting newbie authors, claiming I'm one of their clients. They use different names, and I'm already pursuing legal action. But I have never worked with a PR company, editing service, or book packager, so anybody saying so is lying, period full stop.

There is not yet wide evidence that "gen AI" actually enhances researchers' and developers' results. Some of the most headline-grabbing work that claimed it does is now actively disavowed by the institution under which auspices it was done. That is a MASSIVE ding on the reliability of that research.
This should get WIDE circulation:
MIT stating that it “has no confidence in the provenance, reliability or validity of the data and has no confidence in the veracity of the research contained in the paper.”

Yep. Publishers are WELL AWARE of this, too, otherwise they wouldn't bother with *any* book tours or ad campaigns. If they think something won't move the needle, they don't fork out.

It's just that they only want to give those things to the authors who they want to sell well. *shrug*
Word of mouth is awesome. Enthusiastic nerds on social media can move mountains occasionally. But a decent book tour or ad campaign would move a mountain faster.

Does anyone else find it crazy that you can walk into a bookshop and be charged £9.99 for a paperback novel that took the author a year to complete, but £17.99 for a completely blank notebook?

It was weird how all last year, it seemed like most people talked about the US presidential election like it was some kind of largely symbolic statement vote. Like it was about something other than whether a racist maniac promising to wreck a century of progress would run the country for four years.

Just a heads up - It looks like someone has been creating a bunch of spam accounts on twitter using my name and email. Because twitter's support service is a used tissue, I have no idea when I can get these accounts removed. Until then - if you see anything from 'me' on twitter, its not me!

Thinking about the future of publishing with increasing bans on queer books and my biggest conclusions are that we should free ourselves from digital book reading platforms to focus on downloadable epubs (like what you buy on itch and some other sites)

but also paperbacks are really important.
