Mamdani: Oftentimes when we win elections, we tell people to go home and just trust us. But the message really has to be that we want you to come along with us… That’s something we’ve been looking to share with New Yorkers: We want to not only win with New Yorkers, but also govern with New Yorkers.

I have planned & hosted these ceremonies at two different jobs, and I can 100% confirm that @kevinmkruse.bsky.social is 100% correct. And I would guess that probably 90% of people born in this country couldn’t pass the citizenship exam that new Americans have to pass to be naturalized.
If you've ever been to a naturalization ceremony, you know they're filled with people whose palpable love of this country is twenty times stronger than the pinched "patriotism" of any native-born MAGA chud.

Just unspeakable assholery.

Column: For nearly 20 years, Americans’ anger toward the federal government has steadily intensified.

Now, that anger is reaching record levels — driven almost entirely by the party of whoever occupies the Oval Office.
Column | Anger is a defining character trait for both parties, new study shows
An updated Pew study shows that, with the change in administrations and party power in Congress, Democrats are now at record levels of anger toward government.

To Kimberly Steffes, the president’s casual use of the “R-word” directly harms her 8-year-old son Trevor, who has Down syndrome.

Language, she argues, is inextricably linked to real-world barriers for her child and others with intellectual disabilities.
Resurgence of a slur: Local parents, intellectual disability advocates condemn Trump’s use of the ‘R-word’
Once a common schoolyard insult, the R-word had largely vanished from mainstream speech until recently. Donald Trump has helped its resurgence.
