I feel like in my 30s everything has become asynchronous, a merging of parallel worlds, years gone, to come, multiple natures of grief, overwhelm; but also the best memories, and kindness multiplied.
Sometimes it all hits at the same moment, that realisation. And all one can do is feel, be overcome.

A lot of would-be anti-racist people are very confused by Usha Vance, in kind of an ironically racist way, reducing her to a token brown woman. She has agency. She's a supremacist of her own accord. She met her husband in a chat about white decline. She a Hindutva Hindu and sees herself as Aryan.

They didn’t “turn right.” They’ve been right.

This was a convo in 2020.
Weird to see it resurface.

The pipeline usually goes:

Hippie > Yoga > Hinduism > Hindutva > white nationalism

It’s Tulsi Gabbard’s path.

Chronicles of another day on this soggy island which was sunny for a change, but continued to deliver on tedious immigrant experience bingo.

✓ "we put in a lot of effort to be inclusive"
I didn't ask. But also space was full of cis, able-bodied, yt, middle class folk, but across age.

As promised, here are the slides I shared with students to convince them to NOT use chatGPT and other artificial stupidity.

TL;DR? AI is evil, unsustainable and stupid, and I'd much rather they use their own brains, make their own mistakes, and actually learn something. 🪄

The Safe & Professional Workplace dispute must be resolved. I'm deeply concerned by the tone of multiple emails received from #UCU HQ about the dispute and urge members to look at @uniteucu.bsky.social's website too.
There's also an open letter to UCU GS and SMT here: tinyurl.com/ucuunitesoli...

I know some members struggled to believe this could really be true earlier this week. But anyone who emailed a UCU staffer on strike earlier this week got an identikit out-of-office + deleted advice page + this email to #UCU staff sadly confirms this really happened.

It gets worse…

Members back at work today after taking lawful strike action are now being threaten with disciplinary procedures if their auto-replies mention the reason for their absence during future strikes.

In what trade union world is this acceptable?

This was a terrible choice which has:
-worsened industrial relations
-directly undermined every #UCU member & branch in dispute
- directly undermines UCU's own advice & organising tactics
- is likely to further embolden post-16 ed employers to use more aggressive tactics citing 'well you do it'

I've now seen an email which essentially claims by putting info about being on strike into an autoreply (again: a tactic UCU has routinely advised us to use as members) that the staff doing so have caused UCU to disclose personal sensitive data. Let's compare this assertion to UCU's template:

I hoped #UCU would redouble efforts to resolve the @uniteucu.bsky.social staff dispute

Instead our own union-as-employer has issued management instructions NOT to use tactics #UCU members have routinely been advised to use *by #UCU*
