Hoping the media is incessant this week in its coverage of Doug Ford giving Elon Musk $100M.

“This idiot, Pierre, keeps saying that EI and CPP are a tax. They’re not.”

“Pierre is trying to get you to defund the programs that you need because it will give a tax break to the wealthy.”

“Don’t listen to Pierre, he’s an idiot.”

Doug tucked his tail between his legs, grabbed a box of Timmys and went sledding when downtown Ottawa was overrun by Friends of the CPC for three weeks but now he’s going to save us from Trump.

I think before people get too excited about Doug Ford’s new hat and apparent passion for national unity we should keep in mind he’s intentionally underfunding healthcare and education in Ontario and pretty much giving away a good chunk of prime Toronto waterfront to an Austrian company.

As @bsky.app balloons in popularity, there will be more fake accounts designed to mislead. It is a dangerous mix combining politics with new tech where new users don’t yet understand verification methods. Successful cons can sway votes, so the platform needs a solution beyond domain verification.

I'm seeking a quieter, more measured place to read and absorb factual news and other content. A place where my thoughts are not distracted by sound bites, headlines, memes, 'takes', falsehoods, and emotional online debates. I'd like to digest more, not react instantly. Read more, talk less.
