Back at uni, the 2nd year Operating Systems teacher was a grizzled old neckbeard. In his office he had a dozen VT100s piled on one side of the room, plus one on his desk, all rescued from lab upgrades. Whenever his daily driver bit the dust, he just grabbed a spare from the pile. This was in 1999
