The UK Royal Society is converting 8 of its 10 journals to a ‘subscribe to open’ publishing model. Under the model, article processing charges (APCs) will be waived for these journals if enough libraries pay annual subscription fee.

I thought it was all Obama's fault... just what I heard.
Senate Republicans are blaming today’s dismal economic report on former President Joe Biden’s policies. Lol 😂 give it another year, and it’ll still be Biden’s fault.

Great article - certain island invasives need to be eliminated.
Deconstructing so-called compassionate conservation.

Quote: "The philosophy is not compassionate when it leaves invasive predators in the environment to cause harm to vastly more individuals of native species".

I don't know exactly how the NIH works in terms of deciding/allocating funding. But I do know A LOT about how NSERC works in Canada. I expect there are similarities.

If this happened here 🇨🇦 academic science would be in chaos.

Expect more of this in more 🇺🇸 research sectors. 🧪

Good work! I am thrilled my uni committed to bird safe windows in new construction (UF Gainesville). Advice? 1) reporting via iNat, (2) Find planners buying windows for buildings (5-10 years ahead) (3) use ur data to harass Uni for retrofit of existing windows. So glad you are doing this!
Alli Stanton (senior, K-State Biol) is leading a project to identify high-risk buildings for bird window-strikes. We created this sad visual summary of fall migration to help us talk to Uni admin.
