The realignment of the Cockshut Stream has resulted in the creation of a new 6 hectare wetland habitat in the Lewes Brooks Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The area has fast become an oasis for nature with many birds spotted, including egrets, herons, kingfishers and snipe.
