Who knew? I used to hear proclamations about Japan being a rice-eating nation nearly as often as it having four seasons. Turns out, Japan ranks 46th in terms of per capita global rice consumption (World Population Review data). Doesn't diminish the current rice fiasco, but fun to think about

Greenwash much? Translating a "sustainability" report for a major Japanese timber corp. Can't post the J, but:

"Even after transformed into products, wood stores CO2 as carbon, so constructing wooden houses can be likened to building urban forests."

As opposed to...planting urban forests🙄
