He's not had any for a few days, but it's not impossible. It's strange that it's so rare in Devon compared to Cornwall

And uber-fresh too. It just goes to show you really don't know what's going to be under the egg trays!

Yes, that's correct. The Salsovian (Eremohadena chenopodiphaga) potted in my garden on 29th October 2022. Found nectaring, it doesn't come to light very often. It's my profile picture

Amazing! Well done Tim. Your 4th for Britain certainly looks better than my 4th/5th Dichomeris acuminatus earlier this month!

Finger's crossed. Phil Sterling is gen detting it for me. I would have gotten around to it eventually myself, but he was happy to do this, as well as the Dichomeris.

Soak some ropes, don't put them all out, but replace them every few days with ones still soaking in the mixture. Only replace the mix once it's all used up

I dissolve 1kg of sugar in a bottle of red wine (12%abv or higher), then soak some rope and hang up. Simple as that. You can add a dash of dark rum to the mix before you hang the ropes each time to improve your chances. I replace the ropes about once a week

Strange. The Thorns have done very well down here in Plymouth. My best year for both August and Canary-shouldered. Not as many Dusky as previous years, but by no means scarce.
