In the 90s, I always thought we shouldn't gloat so much about winning the Cold War. Putin and Russia play the long game, many American leaders can't focus on anything past next quarter's earnings. We need more long-term vision, remaining leaders of the world demands it.

So true and important to state. The problem I see is that the GOP just lies and lies and tells more lies about reality. They've done it for so long that a good quarter of the country automatically assumes Dems are at fault for everything and even more believe it's just "both sides."

Many liberals and leftists at least at times try to call it out. Conservatives don't. Hard to find many on the right who say Iraq was a good idea now, but in 2003 they all supported the invasion.

Disassociative claimance seems to me to be a characteristic of governmental leadership in general, whether conservative, liberal, socialist, anarchist, or any other.

The Iraq war was launched by conservative Republicans. It's true that many moderately liberal Democrats voted for it, but large segments of the liberal left strongly opposed it.

True leadership here from Halsey. In troubling, difficult times
it's inspiring to see it.
