The Fed’s decision today to enact a quarter-point rate cut was not unanimous. Stephen Miran, Trump’s latest appointee to the board, cast a dissenting vote in favor of a bigger cut (half-point)

NEW: Labor Day is the end of summer (in the cinema box office)

This summer at the movies was the worst $$ since 1981, adjusting for inflation & excluding the Covid period, when many theaters were closed

last friday, job gains from May+June were revised down by a total of ~258,000. the downward revisions hit virtually every sector, but jobs in state+local government were revised down the most

busy week for econ data. jobs report out this morning shows significant downward revisions for jobs in May & June, meaning job growth was a lot lower those months (~258K lower) than initially estimated
