New paper out! We found that a climate change-driven warming off Sydney has increased the amount of time bull sharks spend around Australia's biggest city. #sharks #climatechange #sydney #bullsharks

Ever wondered what factors influence the number of shark bites?

Delphine Duval led a review of scientific evidence of factors proposed to affect shark-bite risk.

Welcome Chloe! 😊👏🦈
Hi! I’m a PhD student in South Australia looking at the diet and movement of sharks and rays using #stableisotopes, #fattyacids, and #acoustictelemetry. I’m analysing how species partition resources to coexist in different environments 🦈

Have you joined Bluesky after leaving SnapTok or whatever?

Are you wondering “where are all the shark scientists and conservation advocates?”

I got you! 🧪🌎🦑🐠🦈

Could harassment from sexually mature male whale #sharks be the driver of low female numbers at aggregation sites? Insights from pre-copulatory #behaviour suggest a social factor hypothesis could contribute to sexual segregation within the #species! 🦈 Read more: www.frontiersin.org/journals/mar...

🚨🦈 New shark science! 🦈🚨 We observed a sexually mature male whale shark biting the caudal fin of a (likely juvenile) female whale shark. Biting is a pre-copulatory behaviour for many shark species, so this observation provides possible insights into the mating behaviours of this endangered species 🌊
