It is shocking how boring it is.

And now they’re driving on highways!

Totally get it. I live here and feel the same way.

This is a reference to the excellent Bastille album about the split screen of what you see on your phone and in the news vs. life going on as usual

Totally! Why do you think they need to advocate vs. it being an already-existing position?

Similar experience with Claude Code, tried it after using GitHub Copilot in Agent Mode for a while. Night and day and honestly hard to put my finger on why

100%! And yeah deciding *not* to push into higher leverage areas where you could have more influence but might not want the schedule / headaches.

I used to aspire to be a Director and .. at least not for me in my current phase of life!

As an analyst, how do you increase leverage over this decision making process if not primarily about the people / process elements? If you’re not becoming more technical? That leaves business / domain knowledge leverage, which is why many analysts move into the business units they work with.

The staff+ roles in engineering fields are about technical leverage. For analytics, I mean people debate the purpose of analytics is but I think a decent description is the presentation of the relevant information to improve decision making.

.. but for analysts you will hit a ceiling and need to decide if you want to get more technical, move into the business, or go into management.

The reason is that career ladders are all about increasing leverage in a specific domain.

People leadership is about people + process leverage.

This is right but an odd thing is when someone’s positive contributions happen “early” and then the negative stuff comes out or simmers for decades.

Eg Henry Ford or Charles Lindbergh

Writing will need to undergo a similar shift. Never has it been so easy to fake understanding of the writing process as with LLMs.

Learn to write the hard way, diagram those sentences, write by hand, type without suggestions. I can't say I see how it will play out but I'm confident we'll adapt.

Personally attacked!

But for real I am personally paranoid about my audio quality because there is no good way that I know of to know how I sound on any specific call
