Very happy to have added a small contribution to this important
Science paper just released yesterday! The study demonstrates a direct interaction of peroxisomes and mitochondria to deal with reactive oxygen species that could cause oxidative damage.
ROS transfer at peroxisome-mitochondria contact regulates mitochondrial redox
Maintenance of mitochondrial redox homeostasis is of fundamental importance to cellular health. Mitochondria harbor a host of intrinsic antioxidant defenses, but the contribution of extrinsic, nonmito...

Stumbled across what looks like a scheming nauplius in the SEM while looking for tintinnids for Hannah from Kirsty's lab! @micromotility.bsky.social

Makes for truly horrifying reading! Coincidentally, I read 'The Insect Crisis ' by Oliver Milman at the moment as well. :-(
‘Half the tree of life’: ecologists’ horror as nature reserves are emptied of insects
A new point in history has been reached, entomologists say, as climate-led species’ collapse moves up the food chain even in supposedly protected regions free of pesticides

Not sure if our Master students were impressed by my comparison between the first commercial SEM and IG88.... The resemblance is uncanny though!

Storm Darragh prevented my trip to Heidelberg tomorrow. No stereology workshop on Monday then but we will reschedule for next year!
Due to storm Darragh and flight cancellations, the two-day stereology workshop scheduled to begin on Monday at Heidelberg University unfortunately had to be cancelled. We will plan for new dates early next year.
