These "how game AI R&D has largely stagnated" takes greatly frustrate me; they are either uninformed or miscategorize how game dev works. "R&D" implies _structured_ and _funded_ efforts. By that definition games don't do (AI) R&D, at all. The thrust is well-meant but ignores how game dev operates.
