It’s funny how the people who flip out over naming your for-loop variables i, j, and k, are the same people who wax poetic about for_each and auto.

Shame if people reposted this thread, as a deterrent against using the services of a clueless, moneygrubbing dinosaur "advisory firm", while also promoting Gergely's superior reporting. Just saying. 🤷‍♂️
Ironic: Gartner had my post ridiculing Gartner removed. The one that shared Gartner's Magic Quadrant about AI Code Assistants, which does not include Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and ranks Amazon above Cursor.

This one: github.blog/ai-and-ml/gi...

Are they embarrassed to share their Magic Quadrant?

The Economist publishes a yearly democracy index. For 2024 the top 4 countries were:
1: Norway 9.81
2: New Zealand 9.61
3: Sweden 9.39
4: Iceland 9.38

The “land of the free” shows up here:
28: USA 7.85

Will the US even be in the top 50 in 2025??

I hadn’t even considered there were different interpretations of “free speech” between right and left, but the first few paragraphs of this article explains so much.

Henceforth America will have to rely on the rest of the world to mock what’s happening in the US, because the US is too afraid to do it ourselves.
Oh my god lol

The below discovery is all in the news now.

Corrupt governments censors information that doesn’t further the false narrative they want to project.
This is an archived government report that found that “Since 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists.”

It existed yesterday and is gone today.
What NIJ Research Tells Us About Domestic Terrorism
Militant, nationalistic, white supremacist violent extremism has increased in the United States. In fact, the number of far-right attacks continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic...

A mind map is just more “fun” version of a tree, yet it created a ~$2B industry.

What industry can you create by trivially coat some boring but key thing in a new brand of exciting lacquer?

Bezos cowering to the punitive damage that the orange mafia Don can dish out from his corrupted government entities.
So @washingtonpost.com tried to get away with “no clear answers” 🤔 then changed it to “feeds speculation”?

Talk about not meeting the moment

Anyone else have a sneaky premonition of:
1. AI coders replacing human junior/mid engineers, collapsing the junior->mid->senior->principal funnel.
2. AI-iterated code becoming increasingly complex and brittle, eventually with no (architecture) oversight.
3. "Hilarity" ensuing.

Sturgeon’s Law is often seen as a humorous commentary, but it’s really a more pointed Pareto principle.

Business practices do (rarely) consider Pareto, but never Sturgeon. I think they should.

Finance: Mag 7 vs S&P 500 is Pareto but with Sturgeon underperformance in “S&P 493.”

Americans can no longer scold others for taking hostages and placing them in barbaric conditions when we now do the same thing by kidnapping people living in our own country, and trafficking them to concentration camps both foreign and here at home that have barbaric conditions.

It’s disappointing that none of the LLM models (and their handlers) have yet come up with a sensible way to name and number themselves that actually makes sense.

It’s like graphics card naming all over again.

What, exactly, are we celebrating this Fourth of July?

Our cutting off healthcare to the needy to enrich the greedy?

Our new concentration camps?

Our dying economy?

Our ditching due process?

Our corruption?

Our broken Congress?

Our corrupt Supreme Court?

Our ridiculous buffoon President?

You can't call immigrants lazy moochers looking for government handouts and then round them up at Home Depots where you know they are looking for work.

You can't say immigrants don't follow the rules and then round them up in courthouses where they are following the rules.

Get your lies straight.
