A November weekend afternoon in Utrecht.

Because I am an idiot I decided to photograph all the (visible from the street) Georgian doorways of Liverpool's Rodney Street with a 60 year-old Olympus FT camera. Turns out the half frame format of the camera goes well with the shape of the doors. #believeinfilm #shootfilmbenice

After that giant eye I've been reminded that I have a history with advertising and Liverpool. This is from 2015, when half of Lime Street (in the reflection) was for sale and due for demolition. #Liverpool

Photographed earlier tin the summer, this reminded me very much of the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg in The Great Gatsby, only in this case the giant, staring eye welcomes travellers from the train at Lime Street Station. I think it's a cosmetics ad. #Liverpool #BelieveInFilm

The vintage excavators were moving earth around at the Threlkeld Mining Museum last weekend, and the Lake District fells were quite a setting.

Spent the afternoon in the pouring rain and ankle-deep mud at the Egremont Crab Fair, watching Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling.

The Florence iron mine, at Egremont, Cumbria. Photographed with Lomo Turquoise film, which generally (but not always) turns red shades blue. This is where the Wrestle exhibition is being held: www.florenceartscentre.com/events/sjbnw... #TheFlorence #Wrestle #Photography #BelieveinFilm

I went to the sea to clear my head this week. It was high tide at Hodbarrow, near Millom. #photography #Cumbria

HP5+ is great at 1600! This was done with a Hasselblad and 80mm f2.8, so pretty much the opposite of half frame: loads of lovely grain.

A plug for my exhibition with painter Janet Moss. Wrestle celebrates Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling at The Florence Arts Centre, Egremont. Opens on Sunday and runs until November 1st. More about my work here: chrisroutledge.pictures/wrestle Janet's work is here: artingabout.co.uk/wrestlers/

I certainly felt proud when I saw this abandoned, vandalised car by the side of the A66 the other day. I felt so overwhelmed by patriotism a tear came to my eye and I almost saluted involuntarily.

English Nationalism. Abandoned Kia on the A66.

There's still time to see the Horizons exhibition at the Brynmor Jones Library, University of Hull (note bank holiday closing times though) but next up is Wrestle, in West Cumbria. More details here (bigger screen is best): chrisroutledge.pictures/wrestle

Are car drivers entitled? Why yes they are. Road blocked by moronic parking.

Went up a big hill today.

Further adventures in large format (4x5) sports photography. Wrestling at Ambleside Sports, 2025. There's an exhibition in Egremont this September: #filmphotography cumbriacrack.com/2025/06/28/n...

Any #BeliveinFilm folk ever seen this before? Sheet of @ilfordphoto.com HP5+ is too wide for the holders. Had to give up in the end and you can clearly see why. This is not the holder I was trying to get it into in the dark, another sheet from the box went in just fine.

I hope these pricks enjoyed their Co-op meal deals on the top of Loughrigg Fell today. Shame they couldn't be bothered to take the packaging back down though. #LakeDistrict

My wife is working in an archive today, lucky thing, and she found this, from 1932.
