The perfect gift for someone who loves a horse, but only that one, single horse.

Or someone who’s really into playing schoolyard basketball games.

Thank you to all who have served on this Veteran’s Day, especially to my brother!

Finished The Eyre Affair. It's a fun, inventive book. I went in having not read Jane Eyre first, and I'm not sure that was a bad thing. I will likely read more Thursday Next novels in the future.

Next, The Crystal Shard by R.A. Salvatore. I never read these when playing D&D in the '80s.

I watched 33 new-to-me movies in October, and in case I had to miss a day had one in my pocket from September.

9/30 The Creature Walks Among Us, 1956

Weird choices to cap the series. Hyper-aggressive men, some okay strength gags. I’d watch it again, maybe be on @svengoolieofficial.bsky.social.

10/31 pt 2 Halloween II, 2009

I was right. It could be worse. So much acting talent all over this movie, yet it’s not good at all. Glad I capped off seeing them all, but I won’t be revisiting these two.

10/31 Halloween, 2007

I have never seen a Rob Zombie movie before now. This one wasn’t great. I feel that I missed part of what made the original scary to me. Still, it could have been worse.

Witch Quest! A friend just brought me this comic-format bar menu from Mexico. Some very nice art!

10/30 pt 2 Drag Me to Hell, 2009

Classic Sam Raimi. Not as great as an Evil Dead, but still a fun time.

10/30 Weapons, 2025

Wow. Very glad I watched this and did so knowing nothing about it.

After going unused for a few more years partially due to Covid, I asked Flash Gordon himself, Sam Jones, to sign my autograph book at #SDCC I believe in 2024. He was nice to everyone around him. I f you get a chance, say hello.

10/29 Late Night with the Devil, 2023

Unique. I enjoyed watching it, but I think I need to see it again to fully appreciate everything that happens.

Finished The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Pretty good short story.

Trying The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. #BookSky

If you see this, post 4 female characters you love (no one said I couldn’t pick one I work on).

10/28 Slaughterhouse, 1987

I wouldn’t call it good by any means, but it was way better than I expected it to be. Well shot, a decent gag or two, and a couple of solid acting performances among many stiff ones.

Finished The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. I was surprised by the ending and would have liked to see the aftermath.

On to The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

10/27 Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, 1988

I’ve been a fan of Cassandra Peterson for a long time. I kind of consider her to be my generation’s Mae West. Still, I wasn’t expecting much from this, and I got about what I expected. I want to re-listen to the chapters of her book on the production now.
