Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

It really needs to stay shocking and not be normalised that communities in the USA are issuing shelter in place warnings due to the danger of violence and detention by a government-backed militia preying on racial groups.
Pilsen PUÑO has issued a community wide alert urging vulnerable residents in Pilsen and Little Village to shelter in place due to heavy ICE activity.

A couple of times in my life I was a “victim” of traumatic things - some may be unhappy with that word but it is accurate. I do not consider myself to be an expert on the circumstances and I do not believe others are unable to empathise or understand if they did not also experience it.

Absolutely what needs to be said. Europe needs to be prepared to part ways with authoritarian-controlled social media and create its own spaces.
"We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

Finally someone fucking says it.

There are many opinions being shared, especially from US contributors, along the lines of "this is it" and "now is the time" to confront their Administrations actions on censorship and manipulation. I suspect most of us know nothing will happen - history has shown us how this is likely to play out.
