Current board reopened what everyone thought was a settled issue, so let's do it again! We still have an adopted long range plan in place that supports doing the fiscally responsible thing.
This is @wedge.live area of expertise but iirc the current board only put the Uptown plan on ice, they didn’t kill it, but the delay maaaaybe killed the Met Council money?

advocates are still reeling in this moment that the transit bill that passed is *very good*, and includes policy reform like setting parking minimums to zero in areas around transit across the state

You may not believe that new supply pushes down rents, but your landlord does.
New housing stops landlords from raising rents—take it from the CEO of AvalonBay, one of NYC's largest landlords:
"We're well-positioned… we face significantly less new supply. Land entitled for multifamily is hard to come by, the amount of time it takes to get those entitlements… sets us up well.”

Fab idea! his is the closest we'll get to a European plaza!
1. The street is VASTLY underused, inconveniencing few
2. It's WIDE, not a narrow shadowy north-south canyon a la Nicollet.
3. It borders a PARK, perfect ancillary use
4. Buildings are cute, would accommodate re-use
5. Cool skyline view!

I don't think @gavinnewsom.bsky.social understands he'll be writing his legacy with how he decides on SB 79. He entered office promising millions of new homes and he's close to leaving without having gotten anywhere near that goal. Signing SB 79 is the one serious step he can take.

I am sickened by today’s attack in Manchester. Antisemitism is on the rise around the world, and we must do all we can to stomp it out. I am grateful to first responders and congregants who showed incredible bravery, and I am praying for those who were killed.

This.

Nicollet should not be reopened to car traffic. I am still so mad about this and probably always will be.

This is making my neighborhood less safe. Nicollet is already part of the city’s highest injury streets & opening it at Lake will make it worse.
i iust think it’s antisocial to be eager to drive here, honestly. more vroom vroom streets going in and out of downtown where people don’t have to take the highway is really bad for people and street life

Hello Lyndale Ave South community. Opponents of a safer design for Lyndale are generating a ton of emails (via action network), many from outside Minneapolis, to city council members in support of the no bike lane option. You may want to get busy contacting your council members.

Key wins: apartments allowed in commercial zones, reduced parking requirements, easier ADU permits.

Pretty straight forward, y’all.
“Over the past 20 years, Paris has undergone a major physical transformation, trading automotive arteries for bike lanes, adding green spaces and eliminating 50,000 parking spaces.

Part of the payoff has been invisible — in the air itself.”

Leadership, strategy, real action, common sense. #Paris
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

What the hell? We got it backwards. I want EU standards, damn it.
This is an INSANE decision by the E.U.

“By signing up to mutual recognition of vehicle standards with the U.S., the E.U. has waved the white flag on road safety. This is not a technical detail – it is a political choice that puts trade convenience ahead of saving lives.”

This will kill people.
