What's the etiquette for buying each other's games at the market? I'd like to pick this one up (along with at least a few others), but I'm sure it will be sold out by the end of the market. Any pre-market sales before we open to the public?

Put me down for $50. Can I send it now or do you want me to wait?

I think d12s are where I'm leaning as well

They'll still need to know where 5 of a kind lives, because adding dice essentially adds duplicate cards to the deck (they're just not static cards)

Essentially, all points in my game come from 1 prop bet or another and hands are only ranked to resolve the bets
November 11, 2025 at 2:38 PM
The ranks only matter for resolving goals - kind of like in Hot Streak the race winners/losers don't matter other than for resolving goals. If you picked a bet/goal that someone is eliminated and they are, then you score points regardless of who won

Not really. Having a flush isn't better than high card. If I have a high card and I draft the 4th place goal (in a 4 player game) I'll probably complete my goal and get a point. If you have a flush and someone else drafts the 1st place goal then both of you probably lose out on points.

So, I'm aiming for a cross between The Gang and Hot Streak where the "winner" is not important, but deducing the ranks is important
November 11, 2025 at 1:25 PM
Whether I'm in 1st or 4th only matters if I want to draft a "placement" goal card as a guess of what rank I'm in - if I guessed correctly I get points (even if I'm last place). And the prop bets are things like "use most green cards", so again I could "lose" the hand and still score the most points

Yes, but my thought with the dice is that we theoretically have equal access to them (draft order notwithstanding), so I don't believe it causes issues with the ranks - it just inflates the hands - and slightly increases the odds of a tie. However, what hands people get doesn't really matter...
November 11, 2025 at 1:21 PM
The dice will inflate the average hand, but other than 5 of a kind, I *think* it would inflate them all equally and doesn't mess with the rank
November 11, 2025 at 1:14 PM
I don't mind slotting 5 of a kind in somewhere, but I want to avoid rearranging the standard poker hands since many people have them memorized and I think that would ruin the gameplay. Even if I do 4 suits, I'll need to slot in 5 of a kind because of the dice drafting

I'm trying to create a texas hold em variant that's more like The Gang (but competitive) with prop bets a la Hot Streak that also includes some dice drafting. But since 13-sided dice aren't as common as d10s or d12s, I'm leaning towards a deck of 5x10, 4x12 or 5x12. But the math...

Thank you

Apolgies in advance for this being weird, but I never see ayup written and I only know 1 person who ever really said it - my amazing uncle. We very sadly lost him today and seeing it in my timeline while distraction scrolling stopped me in my tracks and gave me unexpected comfort, so... thank you ❤️
