One of my most anticipated reads for 2025:

Ghengis Khan and The Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford.

Weatherford highlights how Khan was both a ruthless, but also a visionary.

Have you read this one? What were your thoughts?

Viking History is one of my favorite historical periods.

The Wolf Age by Tore Skeie is a book I think anyone who loves Viking/Nordic history will love.

What Viking history books would you recommend?

Today’s Inauguration will be designed to fuel anger, resentment, and fuel rage among those who are either directly impacted or opposed to particular rhetoric or policies of Trump’s.

Do not fuel the fire, be vigilant in how and what you consume, and choose to fight back with actual change.

TikTok is back up after the ban, but it is 100% not the same.

Content/creators I followed, mainly for history and history books, are all but gone from search and my FYP.

I can’t say what’s happened to the algorithm, but there’s a lot of empty hallways in the building if you know what I mean…

The Poppy War
The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine
The Shadow of The Gods
To all of our new refugee #booktok friends, welcome! The #booksky community is incredibly kind and engaging.

Now, it's not a proper #book enthusiast's introduction without immediately asking the important question: what's everyone #reading??

My introduction to #booksky I guess?

📚 Reading is political
🎧 Audiobooks count as reading
📖 Reading is not a competition
🤔 Reading critically & reading for fun are not mutually exclusive
👉 If you support problematic authors, you deserve to be called out on it
🚫 Toxic positivity can eff off

Any solid recs for books on the Ottoman Empire?

Looking to add some reads from that period to my list this year.

The books I’m currently reading:

The Poppy War started off pretty slow, but took off about 50 pages in, and I’ve been glued to it ever since.

Hundred Years’ War is quite dense out of the gates, but extremely informative.

Not too far into Shadow yet.

What are you reading in Jan?

Just finished up with ‘How The Word Is Passed’ by @clintsmithiii.bsky.social as my first read in my 25 in 2025 challenge.

A no-doubt ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read - highly recommend adding it to your tbr.

I’m now on to The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine by Rashid Khalid.

What are you currently reading?

It will never be acceptable to allow January 6th to be forgotten, rewritten, misinterpreted, or accepted as normal.

A day of destruction and desecration to the very freedoms and liberties our country stands on were threatened.

Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society.

#BookSky Christmas Day check-in!

I’ve added what most consider “must reads” that I’ve been putting off in favor of other reads to my collection.

Already started on “How The Word Is Passed” by Clint Smith, and am loving it. Will likely restart Valiant Ambition.

Have you read any of these titles?

That's what you get when corporations would rather profit
off our pain than improve the country. They use our suffering as a way to get seize control, all while oppressing through constant dependency so that their wealth can continue to grow.
