Maybe if Labour poured concrete into the channel tunnel, cut all communications with continent, ships, planes, Eurovision and went into hibernation it would solve the problem. 🇪🇺🙂

This day in 2017, we left #UK to escape to #EuropeanUnion whilst still possible. Staying in touch is difficult. Negotiating blatant anti-#EU press difficult. Removing Sky, seems, wife & I reduced to trustworthy Channel4 News. (Not legally viewable in central #Europe). #EU guarantees free speech. 🇪🇺🇦🇹

#EU Article50 gave no room for #UK to deny its own citizens benefits of freedom of movement residency if already living there before #Brexit cut off date. We got out just in time. #RejoinEU

Over my dead body would I return. However, #EU is firmly embedded in a rule of law based system. When we settled in #Austria in 2017, we received help at every step. About 6 months later received a call to check if we were OK. Added bonus, we now speak reasonable German. 🇪🇺 #RejoinEU

We will use 300kmph rail to journey to #Innsbruck airport next week. Can’t wait to see 64km Brenner HS tunnel under Alps on route to Palermo open: built for 350kmph. I’ll weep when we reach Gatwick & Clapham Junction. Most brits have no concept of 300km. #RejoinEU 🇦🇹🇪🇺

The ÖBB rail Vienna to London NightJet sleeper is never likely to run. Passengers would be expected to get out for 2hrs at Brussels for #English border-guard checks.

We slipped over the border at Dover, under the cover of darkness, in 2017. #EU state #Austria has made us very welcome ever since. #Brexit gave a gentle nudge for OH and I to learn German. “To a high standard”? Maybe not at 79 but an immensely fulfilling, fun exercise. Dankeschön. 🇪🇺🇦🇹🍷
